The Challenge
In 2023, Pico Rivera Innovative Municipal Energy (PRIME) launched a groundbreaking initiative giving PRIME customers the ability to harness the benefitsof solar power and battery storage. The Power Choice program offers customers solar panels and batteries installed on their homes at no upfront cost and with no credit required. The program gives homeowners the ability to reduce energy costs, produce solar energy at home and access emergency backup power during extreme weather or power outages.
While the program provides many tangible, long-term benefits, the real challenge was meeting customers where they were and communicating the program effectively to encourage sign-ups.
Our Approach
To meet this challenge, PRIME partnered with Tripepi Smith to develop a series of assets to accompany a City-run, in-person workshop. This workshop was designed to offer an overview of the program, a Q&A session for residents and on-site bilingual enrollment assistance for interested attendees.
Tripepi Smith’s approach included:
- Collaborating with PRIME staff to determine outreach needs and key program talking points
- Drafting accessible, easy-to-understand content covering the benefits of the program in various formats (press release, flyer, mailer and social media)
- Designing brand-aligned marketing materials for promotion of the workshop (mailer and social media graphics) and during the workshop (flyer and presentation deck)
The Results
Following a successful in-person workshop with more than 30 participants, PRIME saw an increase in customer interest in learning more about the program and even considering signing up.
