The Challenge

As Clean Energy Alliance expands its programming, we faced a critical branding hurdle: how to make each program visually distinct while maintaining a cohesive “CEA” identity. When our offerings were small, logos followed different orientations. While they technically met brand guidelines, the lack of a standard format created a messy visual landscape. We knew that as our program library grew, this inconsistency would lead to customer confusion and a diluted brand.

Our Approach

Our team acted quickly to develop a structured logo system that distinguishes between Service Tiers and Specific Programs. To ensure a smooth transition, our designers preserved familiar brand elements while implementing two key formatting rules. Service tier logos feature a thin design element above the tier name, denoting the type of energy that powers the customers of that tier. Program logos feature an icon to the left of the program name, related to the program’s service. The most significant update involved Solar Plus. To align with the new logic, we reclassified it from a “tier” to a “program.” We also shifted its color palette from purple to orange, creating a more intuitive visual link to solar energy.

The Results

The updated branding system has drastically improved legibility across all current offerings. More importantly, CEA now has a scalable, future-proof framework that allows us to add new programs without compromising brand integrity.
