In February 2024, the City of Palos Verdes Estates (PVE) tapped Tripepi Smith to design a recruitment flyer aimed at attracting new talent to join the City’s dedicated law enforcement team.
The flyer provides an overview of opportunities, benefits and pay for Police Academy Graduates and Laterals, and emphasizes the valuable opportunity to gain professional experience through the Palos Verdes Estates Police Department.
“Here in Palos Verdes Estates, we are constantly looking for qualified individuals to join our esteemed law enforcement team. We wanted to showcase all that makes the team so special with an eye-catching recruitment flyer, and Tripepi Smith brought our vision to life,” said Chief of Police Luke Hellinga. “This flyer provides a dynamic approach to attracting potential candidates, effectively highlighting the opportunities available within our exceptional department.”
Using a previous recruitment flyer from the City as a reference, Tripepi Smith Graphic Designer Jenni Wechsler took the lead on the visuals for this project. Incorporating City colors and an image of the City’s landscape, the flyer features modern and dynamic graphics and restructured content that highlights the job benefits at a glance. By incorporating snippets of various benefits and a QR code to learn more and apply, interested applicants can easily access and understand relevant details.
“When working on this project with Palos Verdes Estates, we wanted to ensure that applicants could quickly and effectively grasp the key points – which we achieved by separating the points into individual boxes to give each key point more visual weight,” said Jenni. “Our goal was to create a flyer that combined eye-catching design elements with information presented in a digestible format, aiming to enhance the recruitment process.”
