The City of American Canyon recently partnered with Tripepi Smith to reimagine its Annual Water Quality Report, transforming a technical document into an accessible and engaging resource for the community.
“We want our residents to understand the many steps we take to test and treat their drinking water — and to feel confident in its safety,” said Norman Woods, American Canyon’s assistant director of public works. “Tripepi Smith helped us distill complex information into important insights for our water customers, providing a behind-the-scenes look at our processes. With their leadership and direction, we were able to completely transform our approach.”
Each year, the City releases this report — also known as a Consumer Confidence Report — to share key water quality testing results with the community. Published in June 2025, the latest Water Quality report covers data from January–December 2024 and reflects a renewed emphasis on clarity and accessibility. The Tripepi Smith team, led by Senior Business Analyst Kaitlyn Wu, Junior Business Analyst Avi Vemuri and Junior Graphic Designer Jessa Laboissonniere, introduced a new approach to content, customer resources, an enhanced layout and infographics to break down complex information.
The final product fulfilled State and Federal requirements while making key data easier to digest. Scientific terms were simplified and accompanied by helpful insights, helping residents better understand how their water is monitored and treated.
“American Canyon truly prioritizes transparent communication, and it was a privilege to partner with them in this effort,” said Kaitlyn. “Reimagining their approach to the annual Water Quality Report allowed us to flex our content strategy, copywriting and creative skills — and we’re thrilled with the result.”
