Tripepi Smith is headed to Napa for the League of California Cities City Managers Conference from February 11–13. This year’s conference team includes President Ryder Todd Smith, Chief Financial Officer Nicole Smith and Principals Katherine Griffiths, APR, Jennifer Nentwig, APR and Jennifer Vaughn, APR, as well as Directors Alexis Brown-Gillam, Mike Egan, Christine Martin and Mark Pulone

In addition to attending, Alexis will moderate a session on Wednesday, February 11 featuring Pasadena City Manager Miguel Márquez and Rancho Palos Verdes City Manager Ara Mihranian. Their session, “Crisis Communications: Lessons in Preparation and Responses,” will combine practical preparation strategies with real-world insights from the Palisades and Eaton fires to help city managers strengthen their crisis communications skills. Attendees will leave with a deeper understanding of how to develop a crisis communication plan, manage public expectations and keep residents informed and safe in the midst of an emergency.

Designed for city managers and assistant or deputy city managers, the conference provides city leaders with the essential updates, training and insights needed to effectively run their cities and position their communities for long-term success. This year’s programming features sessions on ethics, building productive relationships with council members, mental health, implementing strategic plans, artificial intelligence and more.

“This conference is one of Tripepi Smith’s highest profile events each year, and an important opportunity for our team to connect with Tripepi Smith’s core audience of city manager clients and friends,” said Ryder. “Our work with city managers started in 2001 when we first began supporting the California City Management Foundation (CCMF), and it has continued to grow in both depth and purpose since then as we serve cities throughout the western United States.”

CCMF is Tripepi Smith’s longest-served client. Tripepi Smith has provided communications and association support services to the Foundation for over two decades. In 2023, Tripepi Smith produced an updated membership recruitment video featuring interviews with city managers from around California. In January of 2024, a new membership management system was deployed on the website with the help of Tripepi Smith. Tripepi Smith also developed CCMF’s original website in 2001 and redesigned the website in 2013 and again in 2020.

Tripepi Smith is a principal-level sponsor of Cal Cities, the association’s top-tier sponsorship, and is proud to support the Cal Cities City Managers Conference for the 11th consecutive year as an elite-level sponsor.
