CORO cohort photo for grad dayDirector Melanie James has successfully completed the highly-regarded Coro Southern California Women in Leadership (WIL) program and joins the Coro community as an alumni. After 60+ hours of in-depth training on leadership, diversity and inclusion, mindfulness and giving feedback, Melanie has further developed her skills and toolset to leave a greater impact on both her team and clients.

“Our team thrives with a focus on an ‘Always Be Learning’ culture, and Melanie continues to lead by example,” said President Ryder Todd Smith. “The Coro program is highly selective for a reason, and Melanie’s graduation underscores her exceptional leadership capacity. Melanie is a respected leader among our team and bring a decade fo Tripepi Smith experience to the table with her work each day. Her team loves her management and clients value her dedication to great work.”

The Coro WIL program brings together women at various stages of their professional careers and personal development to test their understanding of leadership. Over the span of four months, cohort members attended 10 in-person sessions and practiced the lessons learned in monthly individual exercises. A core component of the program began on day one, when participants formed small groups tasked with designing and leading an adaptive leadership session focused on a unique challenge or impact facing women in Los Angeles. Sessions also included professional speakers, learning labs and activities that promoted active practice in adaptive leadership, wellness and intersectionality.

“Participating in the Coro Southern California Women in Leadership program pushed me to critically evaluate my approach to communication and leadership,” said Melanie. “Collaborating with such an inspiring group of women gave me fresh insights into modern problem-solving. I truly enjoyed the experience and feel incredibly honored to now be a part of the Coro California alumni community. I look forward to bringing these strategies back to Tripepi Smith to elevate how we lead and serve our clients.”

Coro alumni are given access to an immense network of other accomplished professionals in the private, nonprofit and government sectors and opportunities for further training.
