In the fall of 2024, the Fire Access Maintenance District #1 (FAMD) tapped Tripepi Smith to create a seven-page Budget-at-a-Glance (BAAG) report with the goal of advancing fiscal transparency and fostering trust within its community.
The BAAG illustrates how FAMD funding is used to support essential services, including the quality, upkeep and maintenance of access roadways, as well as rights-of-way and easements necessary for fire protection services. Funding comes from resident and Indian Wells Country Club Community (IWCCC) property taxes, plus a voter-approved special assessment.
“The FAMD Board is dedicated to maximizing funds and providing essential resources to fulfill community needs,” Kevin McCarthy, City of Indian Wells Finance Director commented. “A core component of this is fiscal transparency, which empowers residents with the information they need to actively participate in the community.”
Under the purview of Principal Cameron Grimm, Business Analyst Valerie Nevarez developed content, collaborating with Junior Graphic Designer Jenna Haubruge to transform the information into a visually compelling, educational piece. The final report was printed and delivered to each household, and is also available digitally.
“The BAAG project was an ideal opportunity for our team to leverage the creativity of both our writers and designers in unique ways,” said Cameron. “Our writers crafted content that was both educational and engaging, while our designers enhanced the material with visually striking elements, resulting in a cohesive and educational report.”
McCarthy continued, “Tripepi Smith’s support in developing this Budget at a Glance from start to finish was crucial for both residents and the FAMD Board. Now, residents are informed about the community’s fiscal health and can actively participate in addressing the collective challenges and opportunities.”
