In July 2022, the City of Costa Mesa engaged Tripepi Smith for dedicated outreach surrounding Senate Bill (SB) 1383 — a bill that changes how California residents and businesses dispose of food scraps and organic waste. To educate the City’s audience on these requirements and motivate lasting behavior change, Tripepi Smith partnered with the City to conduct a year-long outreach campaign. Principal Jennifer Nentwig, alongside Senior Business Analyst Kaitlyn Wu and Graphic Designer Jenni Wechsler, created a webpage, social media content, postcard, flyer, leadership talking points and an animated video outlining SB 1383 requirements.
In addition to organics recycling outreach, Tripepi Smith also assisted with communications surrounding beverage recycling requirements. This included a webpage, flyer and social media content.
“Intentional and strategic outreach is essential when new state requirements affect the daily lives of residents,” said Kaitlyn. “Our goal was to share these new regulations in ways that reached all sectors of the Costa Mesa population, and we are grateful for the opportunity to partner with the City in these key sustainability efforts.”
