Tripepi Smith’s Always-Be-Learning (#ABL) culture drives us to stay up to speed on constantly changing social media platforms. This knowledge empowers our team to track, interpret and adapt to the latest and greatest social media trends on behalf of the public agencies we serve. The following is the latest installment of our regular roundup of social media news you need to know:
- Instagram is testing a new limit on hashtag use as it monitors shifts in user behavior and works to curb spam and scams on the platform. As part of the test, users may soon be limited to just five hashtags per post while the platform studies how people interact with tags.
- Google is introducing a new feature in the Gemini app that lets users verify whether a video was edited or created using Google AI. The tool identifies SynthID markers, Google’s invisible digital watermarks embedded in AI-generated images, audio, text and video created with Google’s AI tools.
- X has introduced a new “Creator Studio” hub in the app’s left-hand menu, offering a one-stop destination for its creator tools. Users can easily access their subscriptions, analytics, payment settings and more.
- X is hinting at a new ‘Seen’ tab to track watch history, showing all the videos you’ve viewed in the app. The feature is designed to make it easy to revisit posts that caught your attention but didn’t fully stick in memory.
- YouTube is rolling out a new auto-dubbing feature, letting users choose which languages they want videos dubbed into. Available on the web and in the app, the update aims to boost accessibility and inclusivity.
