Tripepi Smith’s Always-Be-Learning (#ABL) culture drives us to stay up to speed on constantly changing social media platforms. This knowledge empowers our team to track, interpret and adapt to the latest and greatest social media trends on behalf of the public agencies we serve. The following is the latest installment of our regular roundup of social media news you need to know:

  1. LinkedIn is rolling out a new feature giving users the option for a video in the header image slot on their articles, helping content stand out in-stream. This update supports LinkedIn’s broader focus on pushing video content across the platform.
  2. Meta is expanding Threads DMs globally, giving users a dedicated inbox within the app for private conversations separate from Instagram DMs. Accessible from the lower function bar, the feature makes it easier to chat directly in the app without switching platforms.
  3. Also from Meta are new messaging features for business accounts to enhance customer interactions. Brands can now integrate a WhatsApp button into their Google Business Profile for easier direct communication. They can also test expanded outcome options for “Click to Message” ads to drive more targeted engagement.
  4. YouTube is rolling out new tools to help channel managers strengthen their in-app communities. This includes expanded audience engagement insights, with detailed data on “New” and “Returning” viewers, and the introduction of the “Most Relevant” comment filter for all users.
  5. X is upgrading its Community Notes fact-checking system with the introduction of “AI Note Writers.” These automated bots will be able to draft their own Notes, and while this content will still be reviewed and rated by human contributors, the platform hopes this will improve its fact-checking feature on specific topics.
