Alexis Gillam is an experienced local government leader with over 12 years of experience in City Management, public engagement and strategic communications. She has led major efforts in economic development, placemaking, legislative advocacy and emergency response. While serving in Malibu, she directed crisis communications and supported recovery and rebuild efforts during the Broad, Franklin and Palisades Fires. She also led a multi-agency strategy to improve safety along Pacific Coast Highway including public educations, special legislation and infrastructure. She guided the Malibu Community Lands Project, a citywide engagement initiative to determine future uses for over 60 acres of public land. In Imperial, she oversaw cross-departmental operations, led capital projects and secured state and federal funding to support community priorities. Alexis was recently recognized by Engaging Local Government Leaders (ELGL) as one of the Top 100 Local Government Influencers in the United States.
She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Devry University while working full-time and building a career in city management. After more than a decade on the city management track, Alexis made the intentional decision to shift her career to prioritize starting a family while continuing to serve the public good. Her role with Tripepi Smith allows her to stay rooted in the work she believes in, supporting local governments, while creating space for a more balanced life. She is grateful that her passion for services allows her to live out her values, leading with purpose, guided by faith and creating opportunities for others to thrive.
