The City of Culver City sought to enhance its digital presence, maintain brand consistency and stay ahead of media coverage in the fast-paced, information-rich environment that is Los Angeles County. With limited internal resources to manage a high volume of content and media inquiries, the City needed a partner who could not only maintain, but elevate its communications strategy. 

Our Approach

Culver City called on Tripepi Smith to provide ongoing communications support largely focused on two key pillars: strategic social media management and comprehensive media monitoring, while also offering tactical support and high-level guidance to bolster the City’s overall communications infrastructure.

The team holds bi-weekly check-in calls to stay aligned with City staff and evolving priorities, and provides on-demand support for proofreading, editing and communications strategy. Key offerings include:

  • Social Media Management – Using Hootsuite, the Tripepi Smith team manages the City’s social media calendar, drafting and scheduling posts derived from City announcements sent through GovDelivery and additional staff requests. The team created branded social media templates to ensure a cohesive visual identity across platforms and regularly runs targeted ad campaigns on Meta and Google to boost impressions and engagement for high-priority initiatives. One of the City’s key goals was to grow its follower base, and Tripepi Smith delivered with a strong increase in followers (up 261.3% since 2022 across all platforms). 
  • Media Monitoring – Tripepi Smith team uses Meltwater to monitor Culver City’s multimedia coverage across digital and print outlets. This offering comes with a staff-generated comprehensive report with sentiment analysis and brief story summaries shared during check-in calls and in times of urgency, ensuring the City is consistently aware of how it is being represented in the public eye. In addition, Tripepi Smith provides strategic recommendations on if, when and how the City should respond to media coverage, public comments or discussions on platforms such as neighborhood Facebook pages. This helps the City navigate public discourse with confidence and clarity.
  • Monthly Reporting and Metrics – Monthly dashboard reports provide Culver City with a snapshot of communications performance, from social media reach and engagement to media mentions and follower growth, enabling data-driven decision-making. These reports include in-depth written analysis from Tripepi Smith, which is used to tailor the City’s social media strategy and overall communications outreach for maximum impact.
  • Proofreading and Editing – The Tripepi Smith team provides professional review of press releases and GovDelivery emails, helping ensure public-facing content is clear, accurate and on-brand.
  • Strategic Communications Guidance – Tripepi Smith also serves as a strategic thought partner, offering insights and recommendations on messaging, outreach timing and audience targeting to help the City meet its communications goals more effectively.
